Moses and his DadIn 2009 CJ's raised a large amount of money for people in Malawi. All the efforts definitely paid off as here is the newsletter I received from the missionary couple who work out there. So well done everyone who contributed. We would like to acknowledge this month a wonderful gift that came to us via fund-raising by a member of our Dover church. CJ’s dance school raised money for bicycles and mosquito nets, both very needful here in Malawi. Our Pastors and church leaders have long distances to travel in the bush between church branches and the bicycles make this a lot easier for them! Malaria, of course, continues to be the cause of many deaths, particularly in children and the elderly. Thanks to CJ’s dance school we have been able to distribute 100 mosquito nets, some to families on the feeding project and some to our church leaders. We would like to share a very recent testimony to show how important the fight against malaria is. Last month the young son of one of our workers here at the centre in Blantyre contracted malaria. He began treatment from a local clinic and was sent home. Late in the afternoon we received a call that Moses’ [6years old] was deteriorating and was barely conscious. We immediately went to their home and took them to hospital. It turned out that Moses had cerebral malaria, was unconscious and paralysed! We left them at the hospital with heavy hearts, fearing the worst. Three weeks later, Moses is at home, walking, talking and recovering well. His father, Misi, tells the story: That first day at the hospital, Moses was barely breathing, only one breath now and again. The doctors all stood around his bed and said “There is no life in this boy.” I immediately sent messages asking for prayer and within 15 minutes Moses’ breathing became normal. It was very frightening to see your child, not moving, not able to speak or eat. But my faith was in God. When we were discharged he was still not walking or speaking, the doctors said it would be a long time for recovery. But now he is talking and walking and improving every day. Praise God.!” After buying the 100 mosquito nets there was still some change – and that allowed us to pay for Moses’ hospital treatment – CJ’s dance school, thank you so much!
